Auto On

It so nice to wake up with the coffee ready!  Auto On is my friend.

Under Cover

Our backyard faces the west so we get the afternoon and evening sun.  This past weekend we used our new versatile shade sail by Coolaroo in our backyard when our kids visited for an afternoon cookout.  It was so nice to sit under cover of the shade in our newly painted vintage metal lawn chairs.

Have a seat

Over the years we have purchased several vintage metal lawn chairs and this year Keith has done the TLC that they needed.  First he took them to a place to have them sand blasted, which was totally worth every penny.

Then he had to repair a few spots and primer them.

Then several coats of 1959 Thunderbird Indian turquoise.

Almost done.

Almost done.

Moon and Stars

My grandmother referred to them as hope chests more often than cedar chests.  She had several and I remember always being told that one of them would be mine one day and another one would be my cousin’s.  She gave me mine many years ago.  This week my aunt gave me another one.  We don’t recall if this cedar chest belonged to my grandmother or her sister.  Soon my daughter will be taking this one to her house.  This is large one with lots and lots of room for some of our beautiful heirloom quilts.  With its moon and stars we have a visual reminder that our family loves us to the moon and back.2014-05-01-cedar-chest
